Initial Visit
Your initial appointment will take about 1-1/2 hours. Please advise us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment if you are unable to keep your appointment time.
What to bring to your appointment

- List of medications that you are on
- Information about your medical and surgical history
- Recent x-rays or relevant records

In order to maximize your visit with the doctor, you can download and fill out your forms, which will speed your registration time.
You may fax the completed forms to 973-627-0443 prior to your appointment, or simply bring the completed forms to your visit.
Medications and About Your Visit
Patients are encouraged to bring medical records of any previous allergy treatment, including written reports of x-rays, CT scans, and MRI’s as well as pulmonary function tests, relevant medication bottles or prescriptions, and prior allergy testing and laboratory results.
If you suspect that you will need allergy skin testing for either food or airborne allergy testing, please try to avoid any medications that contain antihistamines or have antihistaminic properties for three to five days prior to your visit. These medications can suppress allergic reactions so that the skin testing is less reliable. However, if your symptoms are intolerable without these medications, please continue to take them and we will figure out the best way to pursue allergy testing.
These medications include:
Prescription antihistamines, such as fexofenadine (Allegra), cetirizine (Zyrtec), hydroxyzine, or cyproheptadine (Periactin)
Over-the-counter antihistamines (Benadryl, Chlor-Trimeton, Claritin, and others)
Tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptyline and doxepin (Sinequan)
Heartburn medications, such as cimetidine (Tagamet) and ranitidine (Zantac)
The nasal antihistamine spray azelastine (Astelin)
Other medications may increase your risk of developing a severe allergic reaction during a test, particularly the Beta-Blocker class of medications, which are usually given to patients with heart problems or high blood pressure. Please inform the doctor if you are, or suspect that you may be taking such medication, but do not stop taking these medications without consulting a physician. Examples of Beta-Blockers include Toprol, Inderal, Coreg , and Lopressor.
Do not stop taking :
Cortisone nasal sprays (Flonase, Nasonex, Nasacort AQ, Rhinocort, etc)
Asthma medications (Albuterol, Flovent, Singulair, Advair, etc)
Antibiotics
Eye drops for allergy (Patanol, Zaditor, etc)
Decongestants (Sudafed, Prolex D, etc)
Oral steroids (Prednisone, Medrol, Prelone, etc)
If you suspect you have asthma, please click here follow the link to take the Asthma Control Test from the American Lung Association. Please bring your test results with you upon your visit. Your results will help the doctor in guiding your evaluation and treatment for asthma.
DO NOT STOP ANY ASTHMA MEDICATIONS!! You may continue to use your inhalers and any oral medications taken for asthma such as Prednisone, theophylline, and Proventil/Ventolin (albuterol). You may also continue to use nasal sprays.
If you do not see your medications listed above and are not sure, please feel free to call our office and we can verify for you.
DO NOT STOP ROUTINE MEDICATIONS PRESCRIBED BY YOUR PHYSICIAN!!
For example: Heart medications, antihypertensives, diuretics, antibiotics, etc.
If your appointment is for venom testing for possible bee sting allergy, a six-week interval following your last bee sting must occur before skin testing can be performed.

Office Schedules
As you have chosen a particular location at which you wish to be seen,please familiarize yourself with the days of the week and the hours that specific office is open.This is especially impotrant to our “shot” patients because of the limited days and hours available for your scheduled shots.Your records are housed at your chosen location so if you call on a day that location is not open,you will reach our Hackettstown location.
The Hackettstown (908-813-0230 optn 0 )staff is available Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm and there is always someone available to answer a question ,if by chance you cant reach someone please also call our Denville location at 973-627-1000.
Prescription Refills
If you need prescription refills, please call our office at Hackettstown or Denville Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. please call before you are completely out of medications. We call in prescriptions twice a day, at noon and at 4:00 p.m. It is required that all patients taking medications have an exam with the doctor at least once per year or every six months, according to doctor’s recommendation.
FOLLOW UP CARE
Your compliance is crucial to the success of your allergy program.Our physician will advise youas to when you should return to discuss your progress.If at all possible you should schedule your return visit at the time of checkout.
If you are ill ,please call the office first and discuss your situation with the nurse.Please note that our physician prefers not to prescribe antibiotics without having first examined our patients.
EMERGENCIES OR TO SPEAK TO THE DOCTOR
Our Physician is on call for emergencies 24 hrs a day and 7 days a week. For non emergencies please leave a message on our voice mail at 973-627-1000 and someone will get back to you the next business day.
If you need to speak to a Doctor please call during office hours or if after hours please Text the doctor at 973-936-4180 and state your name, phone number, brief reason for your call. In case of an emergency call 911 or please go to the nearest emergency room.
